When we ask families and campers what you liked the most in the camp, what you liked the most, the first response we get is “COACHES”.
In addition to professional trainers and young coaches, all camp personnel, from cooks to technicians, are carefully selected and work together for years. The campers’ encounters with the same team in the following years also strengthen their sense of trust and belonging.
Each year, 87% of the coaches and executive staff of 400 people from 10+ countries who take part in the programs are former campers and Geleceğin Yıldızları Leadership Academy graduates. It is a camp organization with a certified camp manager.
There are 120 camp coaches working in Uludağ development camps, which are directly related to the training of campers. The coach-camper ratio in the camp is approximately 1:3 with the management, communication and medical team.
Geleceğin Yıldızları managers, who receive hundreds of applications from home and abroad every year, are very meticulous about the personnel to be employed in the camps and apply high selection criteria. Although the majority of the camp team is made up of successful personnel from the previous year, each coach who applies to take part in the camps enrolls in a special HR program for the Geleceğin Yıldızları and is interviewed in person or online. Regardless of whether they have worked in the camps before, school certificates and safety records are requested from each coach candidate every year, and a social media search is conducted about them. DISC Personality Inventory Test is administered to all new coach candidates who will join Geleceğin Yıldızları, and after the results are analyzed by professionals, it is decided whether the coaches will work or in which areas they will be assigned.
Geleceğin Yıldızları Leadership Academy, which was established in 1999 and has been developing since then, forms the basis of the Future Stars coaching system. In addition to the trainings and meetings held in Istanbul, all the summer camp personnel of Geleceğin Yıldızları gather at the camp facility 8 days before the campers, undergo a special orientation program and prepare for the camp. The trainings of the coaches during the orientation period are prepared and conducted by camp managers with International Camp Director certification, program directors with high camp experience, and local and foreign trainers who are experts in their fields.

This protocol outlines many precautions, from being indoors or in the shade when the sun is high, to using the right clothing and applying high-protection cream to the exposed areas. Campers are warned about sun protection by their coaches during the camp.

In the afternoon snack break, campers are offered foods such as cakes, pastries, juice and fruit that will restore the energy they lost during activities and sustain them until dinner. It is very important for us to know the health history of the camper in advance that the health information form included in this set is filled in by the parents and delivered to us two weeks before the camp at the latest. In this set, the timeline from the camper’s preparation for the camp to his transportation until the return day is included in detail.
Camp Period
The camp period is the period when families are most excited to be away from their children. Their excitement continues until they are sure that their children are safe and happy, and then they are replaced by a feeling between longing for their children and being proud of their experience.
Transportation: Parents receive sms about their location on their mobile phones 3 times before they leave their children and the camp bus reaches Uludağ. Families who breathe easier after their children reach the camp need regular information from now on.
24 Hours Direct Communication: There are 2 people responsible for communication with families at the camp, and families can reach these people and, if necessary, the camp director or founders, whose phone numbers and e-mail addresses are learned in the pre-camp bulletin sent to them, for 24 hours. Communication officers work at a busy pace, from answering families’ phones to coordinating the delivery of e-mails, letters and cargoes from them to the campers.
Phone Conversations with Children: During the camp, families can talk comfortably by calling the children’s own phones between the specified hours every day.
Letter from the Director: We know that families are curious about what their children are doing at the camp and how the days went. For this reason, the camp director writes letters to the families twice during the camp, and these letters are sent to the parents via e-mail and links sent to their mobile phones.
After Camp
The camp director summarizes the whole camp with the last letter he sent at the end of the camp and informs the families about the children’s development and behavior after the camp.
An online survey link is sent one week later to families who spend enough time with their children on their return from the camp, get their comments and observe the developments. With this questionnaire, which takes about 90 seconds to fill out, the opinions of the families, their criticisms and suggested topics for development for the following years are learned.
How do children of families attend the camp?
The common feature of the families participating in the Future Stars programs is that they are conscious people who know what to expect from a summer camp, are educated, research details and want strong references. Tens of thousands of families from different professions and profiles, from 60 provinces of Turkey and 70 countries of the world, who believe in the benefit of out-of-school education, prefer the Future Stars Summer Camps for their children.
Is my child ready for a camp away from home?
In this regard, the generally accepted limit in the world and in Turkey is the age to go to school. In other words, a child who has reached the age of 6-7 and has spent at least one night away from home can be considered ready for summer camp. The view that the child will not be able to meet his needs and take care of himself in the camp is mostly due to the fact that parents take on the work and responsibilities that the child should undertake and unintentionally affect his development negatively. Our experience in the past years shows that 7-8 year old campers adapt to the camp more easily and develop.
Can my child stay in the same room with his/her registered friends?
We want new friendships to be born in our camps and we encourage this with our programs. However, campers who want to stay together can inform us in advance and stay together if they are of the same sex and age group.
We filled out the health information form before we went to the camp last year. Do we need to refill this year?
Yes. Kampçımızın en güncel sağlık durumunu bilmemiz bizim için çok önemli. For this reason, the health information form should be filled and signed by the family and sent to us every year.
What kind of applications do you have for those who miss their home and want to return?
What kind of applications do you have for those who miss their home and want to return? The key to this issue is the room counselors who stay in the same room with the campers and will be a model for them in this life experience with their love, attention, education, camp experience and friendships. Our staff, all of whom are former Future Star campers or experienced Future Star camp counselors, are trained and experienced in recognizing signs of homesickness, approaching such campers, and making friends and mingling with other campers. Daily staff meetings talk about each camper and discuss support for homesick campers. We have sensitive and effective practices to eliminate shyness and shyness in our camps. Very rarely, unhappiness can last for a few hours, and in very exceptional cases, for a few days. Of the tens of thousands of campers who joined our camps, only twenty-two left without completing the camp so far.
Can we visit our child during the camp?
We want the camp to be a good living experience for both children and families. Therefore, we ask families not to visit the camp unless necessary. Your visit will have a negative impact on your child and other campers, contrary to what you might think. However, if, despite all this, you need to see your child for a very special reason, it would be beneficial to inform us of the day and time so that we can provide the most suitable meeting environment in order not to upset the family longings of other children. Please make sure that this visit is not within the first 5 days.
Can he take his cell phone with him when going camping?
Cell phones not only negatively affect the campers’ sense of independence and focus on the camp, but also damage the group dynamic. We do not allow our campers to use their mobile phones while camping. The phones of those who come to the camp by phone are kept in the safe in the room where they stay with their coach. After talking to their families on the phone call days, they are put back in the safe and handed over to them at the end of the camp.
How are children’s activities determined?
Stars of the Future, in the programs that it has held for 32 years and in which thousands of young people participate, have observed that campers who participate in activities of their own choice and interest, and who also take on the responsibilities of their own choice, benefit more from the camps. Therefore, the interests of the campers play an important role in determining their daily schedule. Campers are encouraged and guided to participate in different activities by their chamber coaches and program directors. Aim; to enable them to develop themselves in different fields by participating in more sports, artistic and social activities.
What will we take with you when we go camping?
After the registration process is completed, a detailed list of what will not be brought to the camp and what will be put in the camp luggage is sent. In the detailed bulletin, it is reminded to write names or mark on the labels with a ballpoint pen so that the items do not mix with other campers. Families are also informed when and how the clothes that are mixed up and forgotten despite all the precautions can be received.
Will he need money during the camp? How much pocket money will we have to give?
All the needs of the campers within the camp are met by the Future Stars and there is no place to spend money. However, some of our campers may spend money for some additional needs during the camp or to buy various gifts for their families. Kampçıların kampa gelirken yanlarına almaları tavsiye edilen maksimum harçlık miktarı ailelere bildiriliyor.
What kind of application do you have for those who have bedwetting problems at night?
Kamplarımıza katılan bazı çocukların yatak ıslatma sorunu olabiliyor. There are effective methods that have been applied for years to prevent this. Chief among these is the collaboration with the room coach -without making the other campers feel it. The coach and the camper cooperate on some measures, from controlling the fluid drunk after a certain time in the evening to having to go to the toilet several times during the night. The goal is to have no bedwetting throughout the camp, and we have a success rate of up to 90%. In the case of wetting, our coaches receive special training on the continuation of life without the other campers noticing, and they have been successfully implementing many details from changing the sheets to washing the laundry for years…
Do you accept children with special medical follow-up needs to the camp?
We believe that the camp and the special moments experienced there are the right of every child. For this reason, we do our best to ensure that children with special health restrictions or need for follow-up can attend the camp. The most important success factor of the issue is that families provide detailed information during registration and before the camp and are open to cooperation. In the past years, our children with diabetes or similar manageable diseases have experienced wonderful camps in harmony with our camp health team, coaches and camper families.
